Deeper Connections in Doha
Since 2021 our connection to the church in Qatar has grown into something great. What started as a beautiful city for a layover has grown into a divine connection.
On our way home from India we would take a day or two in Doha to breathe before returning to our responsibilities back home. The Lord began to stir our hearts that our time in Qatar was meant for something greater.
This year we decided to make a greater commitment to the ministry in Qatar. For the first time we went to Qatar directly for ministry as its own journey.
Bethel Assembly of God in Doha is the church that has welcomed us with open arms and become like family to us. The church is predominantly Indian believers joined with a collection of people from many other nations.
I had the honor of ministering at Bethel A/G in Doha, Qatar
The challenges of Christians in Qatar are much different than India. Both nations present Christians with struggles and elements that could bring fear to the heart. Qatar is becoming friendlier to Westerners and Christians but it is still an Islamic run nation. So while some of the heavy handed rules of Islam have been loosened it is still a factor.
The dichotomy is the hospitality of the people in Doha versus the unwelcoming harshness of radical Islam. It is similar to what we encounter in India. The people can be so kind and welcoming but they disapprove of Jesus. They want you to visit, eat and spend money but do not bring your God here. Even more so don’t try to introduce your God to our people.
We continue to pray for wisdom in how to be a blessing to the church in Qatar and not cause them any trouble. I will bring you more news from Qatar soon.
